Act for Kids

Our flagship community partner is Act for Kids - a great Australian charity that champions the protection, prevention and treatment of children who suffer abuse and neglect. Act for Kids' vision is to strive for zero child abuse, through key programmes including: 

• therapy for abused or at-risk children and families;
• education for people working with children and the kids themselves; and
• research around important child protection issues.

The Peak Partnership's commitment to Act for Kids has included pro-bono accounting services, financial donations and strategic business advice. We've also been a sponsorship partner of their numerous charity events.

John Eales (our founding Director and current Consultant) served as a Board Member and Honorary Treasurer of Act for Kids from 1992 to 2014 – and he still sits on the Abused Child Foundation Limited and YouThrive Pty Ltd Boards.

Link Vision

The Peak Partnership supports Link Vision (formerly Aid for the Blind Qld Inc).

Link Vision provides accommodation and education for the visually-impaired, with 6 retail stores throughout the greater Brisbane area. Link Vision also works with other blind and disabled associations to realise the best outcomes for visually-impaired people, through research and the subsequent improvement of services and facilities for people with vision-impairment.

Cos IT Caird

In November 2009, Nicole Caird contracted meningitis/encephalitis (HSE) which travelled rapidly and infected her brain. HSE is a truly debilitating disease, severely affecting Nicole’s memory retention. While some sufferers make a full or partial recovery, Nicole has not been so fortunate.

After months in hospital fighting off the virus, her brain was left with significant damage to the area that looks after memory, wiping clear her long-term visual memory, with the exception of close family and friends. The greatest impact though is not lost memories it is that it has left Nicole with a current memory retention span of less than one minute.

As Nicole is a former employee of The Peak Partnership, we felt privileged to become involved right from the start – to help Nicole, husband Brad and their two children with the financial burden associated with HSE.

As Brad has always worked in the IT profession, the Queensland IT community rallied together and, in 2010, hosted the inaugural Cos IT Caird lunch – raising $65,000 for the Caird family.

To date, Cos IT Caird has raised more than $300,000 for Queenslanders in need and Damian Knoblanche is Honorary Treasurer of this terrific charity.
